Mini Biography

"I am 33 and I live in Norwich, Norfolk with my wife Melanie, our little 2 year old boy Finlay and our dog, Jack.  As a family we enjoy all what Norfolk has to offer, the amazing coastline, the  fantastic woodlands and I'm always to be found with a camera around my neck, photographing my wonderful family and our beautiful surroundings.  Photography is not "work" for me, it is a passion and something that I enjoy doing so doing it in my spare time too makes total sense to me (if nobody else!).  Capturing a moment in time that will never be there again excites  me and seeing the finished article on my iMac gives me an enormous buzz. 

Since passing my 3 year, full-time Design & Photography course with Distinction 15 years ago, my enthusiasm and flair for the art has gone from strength to strength.  Wedding photography especially has changed in recent times with the digital age, offering fantastic new ideas and endless possibilities which I totally embrace.  It has moved on from the very stiff formal group shots  where the emphasis is no longer on those type of images but on the more "reportage" approach where group shots are taken but the special candid moments are captured too; the Mother of the Bride with the tear in her eye, the young Bridesmaid having a "moment" and the laughing guests during the Best Man's speech.  

I learned photography the traditional way; film, chemicals and a darkroom.  Thank goodness, the way we get the image from the camera to print has now all changed with the introduction of digital but this knowledge has put me in the great position of being able to produce high quailty contemporary digital imagery, backed up with those traditional values of knowing what makes an image work....."
